NFL win totals overs: Ride the Jets and Texans

Here are a couple of picks that we think have the best chance at hitting the over:

2024 NFL win totals pick: New York Jets over 9.5 (-110)

The Aaron Rodgers Show was delayed for a year but will be featured with six primetime matchups this season. Last season, New York managed seven wins with inept quarterback play and a see-through offensive line, so we like their chances of mustering at least three more wins this year with A-Rod, a drastically improved O-line and a stacked wide receiver group.

The Jets have the league’s 12th toughest schedule, according to opponents’ win percentage but have a chance to gain some early momentum with some soft matchups. After starting on the road against the San Francisco 49ers, New York will play the Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. There’s a strong chance that three of those teams will be suiting up rookie QBs, and the Titans will have second-year pivot Will Levis at the helm.

2024 NFL win totals pick: Houston Texans over 9.5 (-110)

C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans were one of the great surprises of the 2023 season, and things are only going to get better this year in H-town. After hitting two home runs in last year’s draft with Stroud and Will Anderson, the Texans went out and snatched up superstar wideout Stefon Diggs this offseason. He’ll complement an already loaded receiving corps that includes the newly-signed Nico Collins, Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz.

Hard-nosed running back Joe Mixon will join Dameon Pierce in the backfield, creating one of the best looking offenses in the NFL on paper. The Texans eclipsed this total last season (10-7) and should have no problem getting there again with an improved squad that plays in a weak AFC South division.

NFL win totals Unders: Fade the Bengals and Bills

Both of these teams have overhauled squads, and we think there could be some regression this season.

2024 NFL win totals pick: Cincinnati Bengals under 10.5 (-110)

Things seem a little chaotic in Cincy right now. There have been rumblings all offseason about star receiver Tee Higgins requesting a trade and refusing to sign the franchise tag. He’s currently skipping the team’s OTAs. Ja’Marr Chase is notably missing from the voluntary workouts as well and is currently eligible for an extension. Joe Mixon and Tyler Boyd have moved on to new teams, and quarterback Joe Burrow continues to rehab his surgically repaired wrist.

Right now it seems that there are more questions than answers for the Bengals, and we have no problem fading this lofty win total. Cincinnati plays in arguably the toughest division in football and will have to face the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and an improved Pittsburgh Steelers team twice each.

2024 NFL win totals pick: Buffalo Bills under 10.5 (-110)

Josh Allen will be throwing to a cast of unfamiliar faces this season after the departure of his top two receivers Stefon Diffs and Gabe Davis. The depth chart is now topped by Curtis Samuel, Khalil Shakir and rookie second-round pick Keon Coleman. We’ve seen Patrick Mahomes work with less, but this will be new territory for Allen.

2023 NFL win totals results

One thing that last season taught us is that it’s hard to hit the over on 11.5 regular-season wins in the NFL. The Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals and even Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs all fell under their opening 11.5 lines.

The only teams with more than 11 regular-season wins last season were the league-leading Baltimore Ravens (13), San Francisco 49ers (12), Dallas Cowboys (12) and Detroit Lions (12). Here is a complete list of last year’s NFL win totals results.
