23 arrested by Gardaí as part of operation targeting suspected burglary gangs
Gardaí across the DMR North Division have made 23 arrests following a comprehensive policing operation conducted as part of Operation Thor in North Dublin.
Of the 23 persons arrested, 20 are male and three are female.
The 23 arrested have been charged with a total of 100 offences including offences for burglary, theft, unauthorised taking of a vehicle and possession of stolen property.
Seventeen arrested individuals are due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice and Swords District Court respectively, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, at 10.30am.
The remainder are due to appear before Dublin District Courts on Wednesday and Thursday.
Operation Thor is designed to tackle the anticipated increase in the number of burglaries and associated criminal activity that usually occur in winter months by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity.
“This initiative has successfully reduced the rate of winter burglaries, leading to a significant decline in property related crime since its introduction in 2015,” a garda spokesperson said.
