25 GAA Stars Playing Gaelic Football And Hurling In The US This Summer | Balls.ie
Teams being eliminated from the inter-county championship can only mean one thing. The phone call from American officials asked if they had any interest in playing ball over stateside for the summer.
Perhaps one of the biggest things to happen from the split season is players who previously might not have the opportunity to travel for the summer. However, depending on the current club championship structures, players could miss the majority. For example, Waterford hurler Padraig Fitzgerald will miss the majority, if not all, of his club’s Kilrossanty group games as the Waterford junior hurling championship starts next weekend.
On the football side, Mayo’s Ryan O’Donoghue is the biggest name to appear on the ‘live portal’ – his J1 transfer to John McBride’s in Chicago appeared on Friday. With the deadline for temporary transfers coming soon, we expect to see a few more named added to this list.
So, who’s heading where? We have decided to make a list of the best players heading over the Atlantic, and it’s no surprise that Galway hurlers have the most on the list after a disappointing campaign.
