4 Cork homes on sale for around €200,000

THE average price of a house in Cork county is almost €300,000, and in the city is stands at around €330,000.

But can you still a grab a bargain here for around €200,000?

The answer is yes: and I have located four properties – two in the city, two in the county – for around that price which can be moved into straight away.

1. 46, Reenrour East, Bantry, €210,000

Our first property is an immaculately presented home on the outskirts of Bantry town.

This three-bedroom and one-bathroom property is within a stroll of the shoreline. As a bonus, it boasts two reception rooms, so you have the option of turning one into another bedroom or an office space.

All of the homes in this estate are kept beautifully.

You have the countryside all around you, the sea is a stone’s throw away, and the convenience of beautiful Bantry town within a short drive.

For me, this is the perfect down-sizing home for those who want the peace of the countryside but within a community setting – or a first-time buyer’s dream, especially if you’re working from home.

There is nothing about the interior that needs changing as the current owners have used a neutral clean pallet, and I love the timber floors throughout. The property even has an impressive BER of C1.

This is a fantastic buy in my opinion, and at €210,000 the new owners will have bagged a treasure.

2. Main Street, Ballineen, is for sale at €220,000, and is a pretty, stone-fronted four-bedroom home.

2. Main Street, Ballineen, Co. Cork, €220,000

Our second home is in the sweet village of Ballineen, positioned on the Main Street so within the centre of the community.

This pretty, stone-fronted four-bedroom home, over 130 square metres, is a fine size and with four bedrooms and two bathrooms it would be perfect for a family.

Schools and shops are all within a stroll of the house and there is a great community in the Ballineen and Enniskeane villages.

The interior is clean, the bathrooms are large – both with actual baths, which is a rare bonus – and the fitted kitchen is modern and clean.

The rooms are bright and there is access to the back via the side of the house. There isn’t a parking space with the home but the on-street parking is plentiful.

3. 19, Shannon Lawn, Mayfield, €185,000

Our third home is a gem in the city. At €185,000, this three-bedroom property will tick all the right boxes for many.

It is a beautifully presented end of terrace home with a large garden, with decking and a gorgeous entrance.

The love the owners have given this home is evident in the care and attention to detail they have shown over the years.

From the moment you arrive, the property is welcoming, with a well-kept front garden, bright hallway, timber floors, bright rooms and back porch out to the garden.

The bathroom can cater to anyone with mobility issues, and the large back garden is just ripe for finishing touches.

There is plenty of parking to the front of the home, and the local schools and shops are a stroll away.

As it is in an older part of the city, there are plenty of green areas and loads of well-established trees in the communal parks.

This is the perfect first-time buyer’s home in my opinion, and at this price you shouldn’t be lumbered with a big mortgage.

4. Gardiners Hill, St Lukes, Cork city, €225,000

This three-bedroom and one-bathroom home is in front of St Patrick’s National School and St Patrick’s College.

This is a beautiful and quiet part of our city, at the top of Gardiners Hill, with the elegant ivy-covered homes beyond wrought iron gates and railings.

It’s a ten-minute walk into the city and, only a few minutes from the train station.

This home is ideal for those that want to be in right in the mix of community life. I can see it with window boxes and hanging baskets and brightly painted exterior walls.

There is a lovely kitchen, a fine bathroom and timber floors throughout.

Perhaps this would make the perfect home for a retiree, or maybe the first time buyer couple who want city life on their doorstep with award-winning Cork Coffee Roasters on their doorstep at St Luke’s.

Structurally, the house is sound and a lick of paint could make all the difference to this detached rare find.
