5 teenagers injured, one critically, in Mayo road crash

A teenager is in a critical condition and four others injured after a road crash in Co Mayo in the early hours of this morning.

The incident occurred at around 4am on the N5 at Deerpark, near Swinford.

Five teenage boys in the car were taken to Mayo University Hospital, where one teenager is said to be in a critical condition.

No other vehicles were involved.

The road is closed for a forensic examination and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any witnesses, particularly any road users with camera footage (including dash cam) who are travelling in the area at the time to contact Ballina Garda Station at 096 20560, the Garda Confidential Line at 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
