,000 Raised at Annual Swing to Bust Cancer Golf and Tennis Tournament

Alexandria, VA – The 9th annual Swing to Bust Cancer Golf and Tennis Tournament, a resounding success, was held on Monday, May 13th at Belle Haven Country Club. This event, the second-largest fundraiser for the National Breast Center Foundation, is a testament to our community’s commitment to ensuring access to breast cancer screening, education, diagnosis, and treatment for all women.

It was a sunny, beautiful day for both golf and tennis, which ran simultaneously and raised close to $50,000 for the foundation.  Tennis was won by Sara Lipson (also an event sponsor) and Virginia Torment.  Winning teams for main and mixed divisions in a scramble golf format included first-place teams (main) Jerry Long, Sam Sterling, Jason York, and Scott Spitzer and (mixed) Martha Carucci (National Breast Center Foundation Executive Director), Mary Wadland, Becky McCullough (a major sponsor of the event) and Tanya Stamos.

The foundation’s founder and president, Dr. David Weintritt, said “Swing to Bust Cancer is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of community and solidarity.  It brings together individuals who are passionate about making a difference and offers a platform for us to honor and support those affected by breast cancer.”

Mark your calendars for the foundation’s main fundraiser, the Walk to Bust Cancer, to be held on Sunday, October 20th at Fort Hunt Park. Everyone is invites to join in this important event.  Registration opens at 7:30am and the walk begins at 9 a.m.  More information will be available at www.nationalbreastcenterfoundation.org and www.walktobustcancer.org
