76ers, Paul George agree to $212 million max deal: report
The 76ers and nine-time All-Star Paul George have agreed to a deal as the 76ers look to bolster their title hopes, according to a report.
The $212 million deal is reportedly for four years, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
George was an All-Star for the Pacers, Thunder and Clippers.
The Clippers announced they were parting with George Sunday night.
“We traded a lot to pair Paul and Kawhi [Leonard] ]and in exchange we had five seasons of contention,” the statement read, in part. “Even though we fell short of our ultimate objective, we appreciate the chances we had.”
The 76ers already boast 2022-23 MVP Joel Embiid and 2023-24 Most Improved Player Tyrese Maxey.
Philadelphia was 31-8 with Embiid in the starting lineup last season but 16-27 without him.
Philadelphia lost to the Knicks in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.
The team has lost in the second round of the playoffs in five of the last seven seasons.
George is looking to win the first title of his accomplished career, while the 76ers are looking for their first NBA championship since 1983.
