90s pop icon ageless three decades after mega hit as she prepares for comeback
Whigfield, the ’90s pop icon known for her catchy tune Saturday Night, seems to have halted the hands of time, looking just as fresh-faced now as she did when she topped the charts nearly three decades ago and became the first Danish musician to clinch a UK number one.
The artist, whose real name is Sannie Charlotte Carlson, still knows how to turn heads, recently leaving her 54,500 Instagram followers in awe with a stunning au naturel selfie, her signature blonde locks falling effortlessly over her shoulder, reports the Mirror.
At 53, the songstress shone with a natural radiance in the photo, which she simply captioned with a cheery: “Hola Madrid.”

Sannie hasn’t shied away from sharing her life’s ups and downs with her fans, opening up about the sorrow of losing her cherished pooch Olivia, telling her fans: “I haven’t really felt like posting anything these past few weeks. Still a bit down after losing my beloved doggie.”
In spite of her loss, the star is preparing for a comeback, promising her fans: “Gonna be good to getting back to work this weekend. Anyhow, wishing you a happy weekend whatever you’ve up to,” punctuating her update with a black heart emoji.
Her devoted followers didn’t hesitate to praise her timeless beauty, flooding her with comments like: “Looking better than ever! “.
Whigfield spilled the beans on The Songs Are Spells Podcast about her surprise climb to fame, chatting with host Karlyn King: “What happened was, a lot of these holidaymakers came back to Britain and started calling into radio stations…” She delved into the mystery that propelled her smash hit: “Everybody was calling about this Saturday Night and nobody knew what it was about. They had to go get it.”
The buzz around her banger Saturday Night catapulted it to the top spot: “That was the reason why it went straight to number 1, no one had heard it.”
Still smashing it in the music biz, Whigfield, who rocks out under the moniker Naan and her birth name Sannie, keeps wowing the crowds with her comeback gigs. But it’s not all about Saturday Night; bops like Sexy Eyes and Think Of You also stamp her mark in the music world.
