Kerry U-21 football final pits Austin Stacks against St Brendans in a derby that is too tight to call

The Rockies enjoyed a tight win over South Kerry in their semi-final whereas St Brendans got a bye in the penultimate round after Laune Rangers failed to field a team

East Kerry and North Kerry may have dominated this grade in recent years, but anyone who follows Post-Primary Schools football or the Kerry minor and Under-20 teams in the last two years will know that the pendulum appears to have swung in the direction of the Tralee area, with Mercy Mounthawk beating Tralee CBS in this year’s Corn Uí Mhuirí final and going on to reach the Hogan Cup Final. In addition, the Kerry Under-20 panel that featured a combined nine players from these two sides narrowly lost the All Ireland final to Tyrone.

Michael Tansley, Paddy Lane, Colm Browne, and Daniel Kirby all featured from Austin Stacks, who also have Ben Murphy, Ronan Carroll, and Ryan O’Driscoll from the Kerry minors to call on. Joey Nagle, who has trained with the Kerry seniors, and Michael Tansley were both on the 2023 Kerry U20 panel. Armin Heinrich was also with the 2023 U20 side but is currently involved in training with the Kerry seniors.
