Barry Nash is injury doubt for Limerick ahead of big All-Ireland semi-final clash

STAR Limerick defender Barry Nash has emerged as an injury doubt ahead of Limerick’s big All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final showdown with Cork this Sunday in Croke Park, 4pm throw-in.

Nash has been an ever present figure at corner back since the 2020 season but is understood to have recently picked up a hamstring injury in training ahead of this weekend’s clash.

If the injury rules the South Liberties clubman out of the game, he would be forced to miss his first game of Limerick’s 2024 championship campaign after playing every minute of campaign to date. 

Meanwhile, Limerick manager John Kiely is set to welcome back the fit-again quartet of Sean Finn, Seamus Flanagan, Darragh O’Donovan and Richie English who are in contention for selection for the Cork clash.

Should Barry Nash miss out on this Sunday’s all important semi-final, he could well be replaced by Bruff clubman Sean Finn, who has also been out with a hamstring injury. 

Séamus Flanagan, who scored a hat-trick of goals in Limerick’s Munster senior hurling round robin defeat to Cork at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in May, also returns from the injury after limping off in Limerick’s final round-robin game against Waterford. 

Doon clubmates Darragh O’Donovan and Richie English are also expected to make a push for inclusion in the 23-strong matchday squad. 

The opening All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final will take place on Saturday when Clare face Leinster champions Kilkenny at Croke Park at 3pm.
