Daily horse racing tips

  • HAYDOCK
    3.10: Flashy Dark Angel 5/1 each-way (1pt)
    4.45: Smouldering 3/1 (1pt)
  • PERTH
    2.48: Max Of Stars 5/2 (1.5pts)
  • KEMPTON
    2.15: Jakarta 5/6 (2pts)

Flashy Dark Angel

Definitely worth going for this debutant who’s a great price, for a yard who has won this race the last two runnings.

Raison D’etre appeals but at 11/4 I’d have to be more assured that the step up to 6f will be more than beneficial which is a question mark at this point.

Flashy Dark Angel is of course a Dark Angel filly, well named at that, but also fetched 75,000 euros in the breeze-ups after being sold for 25,000gns as a yearling.

There’s clearly something they like about her and she’s got good pedigree not just from her top sire, but also from her unraced dam, who’s related to some handy performers in the US, so may have the speed needed on debut.

Smouldering

Promising filly that ran well to get second on debut considering she also ran green, before putting that form to use next time out to win by a neck.

She’s lightly raced and should have more to offer going forward on what is just her third run of her career, having already been right up there on both starts, so she’s dangerously unexposed in comparison to her rivals.

Max Of Stars

Really hard to back the favourite Annie Agnew with too many question marks of the filly, who only receives 9lb to the more experienced Max Of Stars.

Interesting appointment of Sean Bowen on the favourite too, but she’s lightly raced, makes her debut in Britain, clearly has promise but the layoff of 307 days makes her a better choice to side against for this one and could be one for her next run.

Their form does tie in though, with Max Of Stars six lengths behind Wodhooh, who also finished ahead of Spinning Web, who was second to Annie Agnew back in September was also second to Wodhooh before, but the weights are well in favour of Max Of Stars on that basis.

Jakarta

Tom Marquand is on board the odds-on favourite who is set to make all with the step up in trip again from her 6f victory last time out.

Jakarta made her debut at Newmarket in a Class 2 novice fillies contest, which was won by Mountain Breeze, and her form from that 5f sprint only got better and better.

She then justified that form when winning nicely at Goodwood ahead of Royal Equerry.

Third at Goodwood was Jewel Of London, who is now rated 89 having placed fourth at Royal Ascot, and went on to place third just a couple of weeks after her May contest behind Jakarta.

It’s going to be tough with a 7lb penalty but she should still go well despite that as the form looks that much better, with this filly filled with potential.
