Indian cricket team arrives at Delhi Airport with T20 World Cup trophy, videos of grand welcome go viral
Days after lifting the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy, the Indian cricket team finally arrived in Delhi on Thursday. Men in Blue were stranded in Barbados after the final match against South Africa due to Hurricane Beryl, which caused severe destruction across the Caribbean. Netizens today woke up with multiple videos of the grand welcome Team India received at the Delhi Airport.
In a video shared by news agency PTI, captain Rohit Sharma can be seen flashing the T20 World Cup trophy as fans and security officials cheer for the team. “Captain Rohit Sharma showcases the #T20WorldCup trophy at Delhi airport as Team India arrives from Barbados,” PTI wrote on X.

Another video captures Virat Kohli and other cricketers filming their fans, gathered at Delhi Airport, from the bus. “Men’s Indian Cricket Team waves at supporters gathered at Delhi airport to welcome the winning team. India defeated South Africa by 7 runs on June 29, in Barbados,” ANI wrote.
In another video, ace pacer Arshdeep Singh greeted his young fans at Delhi Airport. The video shows Singh donning his winning medal and thanking his fans for the grand welcome.
To welcome Team India, the executive chef at ITC Maurya, Chef Shivneet Pahoja made a special cake to pay tribute to the Men in Blue. Speaking to ANI, Pahoja said, “The cake is in the colour of the Team’s jersey. Its highlight is this trophy, it may look like an actual trophy but this is made out of chocolate…This is our welcome to the winning team…We have arranged the breakfast at the special venue.”

The Board of Control of Cricket (BCCI) in India shared a special video as Team India arrived with the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy. The video begins with the ‘Player of the Series’ Jasprit Bumrah opening a box. Then comes Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal and other cricketers taking a sneak peek into the box, which has the shiny trophy in it. As the video progresses, one can see the elated cricketers smiling.
“It’s home,” BCCI wrote.
BCCI secretary Jay Shah arranged a special chartered Air India flight to bring back Team India from Barbados. On June 29, India defeated South Africa by seven runs, bringing the T20 World Cup trophy after 17 years.
