Cork restaurant makes ‘hardest decision’ to close doors
A Cork restaurant has said it is closing the doors to its brick-and-mortar location as the team moves to concentrate on their popular food truck business.
Monty’s Kitchen and Wine Bar, in the heart of Bandon, closed for the last time on Sunday. Owner Stephen Farley told customers it was the “hardest decision” he had to make.
The restaurant had been very popular and well-known in the town for its lovely breakfasts, brunches and evening menus. “We are going to concentrate on the food truck going forward,” the owner said in a statement to customers last week.

He runs Monty’s Food Trucks across Cork, pulling up at bars and beaches around the area and said that while he ends his time at the Bandon restaurant, the popular food truck business will continue. Monty is still serving up good grub from the signature pink mobile unit at Crossmahon Bar and Garretstown Beach over the summer.
Meanwhile, the Bandon restaurant property has gone up for rent.
Paddy Murray Auctioneers have listed the town centre cafe unit and say it offers great potential for anyone looking to take it over. The restaurant is on the town’s main street and has been run as a restaurant for over three decades.
The selling agent says: “In the right hands this unit offers great potential and is not to be missed.”
