Confined JBFC and JCFC finals should be a belter tomorrow  

For four football teams on Leeside, their big day in the sun is down for decision tomorrow in Páirc Uí Rinn.

The McCarthy Insurance Group Confined junior B football championship and Confined junior C football championship finals will bring plenty of colour and life to the Boreenmanna Road venue on what are always great occasions.

Just to remind people, the confined championship is open to clubs that do not operate at a higher level so for the teams involved tomorrow, this is a big deal with great excitement in the respective clubs as we get closer and closer.

Ballyphehane meet Goleen in the junior B decider at 6pm with Ballinacurra facing Grange in the junior C final at 4pm.

Ballyphehane are back again having seen their dreams dashed 12 months ago after being piped at the post by St Oliver Plunkett’s by a single point in what was a gripping final. The city club have shown strong form this season, taking out fancied sides in the championship. They have beaten two West Cork clubs in the business end of the championship which will give them great confidence going into this one.

Ballyphehane defeated Muintir Bháire on a scoreline of 0-9 to 1-4 and then Clann na nGael by three points, 2-13 to 2-10 in the last four. Motivation won’t be a problem for the team with last year’s loss in the final still fresh in the mind and also the fact that they are chasing their first ever junior B football championship title.

Goleen know all about hurt and losing finals having being beaten in four at junior B level over the last few years with the latest one just last year which was the county version one.

The West Cork club have been impressive in this campaign and there is a feeling that they are getting stronger and stronger. Shane O’Neill’s side beat Doneraile in the quarter-final 2-14 to 0-6 and then St Catherine’s in the semi-final on a scoreline of 3-10 to 1-5.

It has the makings of a great decider. Goleen will be hoping to make it fifth time lucky.

The junior C football final should also be a great watch in what should be an attacking game of football.

Ballinacurra are another team who were crestfallen last year after they lost to Lismire in the decider of this competition.

Grange actually beat the Imokilly side when they met in the group stage back in May as they won 2-11 to 0-7. It should be a lot closer tomorrow.

Ballinacurra, who won this crown back in 2018, beat Abbey Rovers and Gleann na Laoi in the quarter-final and semi-final respectively to make this big encounter. Grange avoided a quarter-final game and got a bye to the last four and defeated Freemount 2-15 to 1-6. Grange last won this trophy back in 2019.
