County Senior Football Championship wrap up
Round 2 of The County Senior Football Championship got underway with a shock result on Thursday, newly promoted Mungret St Paul’s made it two wins from two by seeing off last years runners up Adare 1-9 to 1-5 in group 1 of the competition in Askeaton.
In the same group on Friday night 1-6 from Danny Frewen including a wonderful sideline kick helped Ballylanders turn the tables late on Na Piarsaigh to claim a valuable 1-13 to 2-9 victory in Hospital.
The captain spoke with Tom Clancy after the game.
Elsewhere defending champions Newcastle West made it two wins from two in Group 1 seeing off Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-14 to 0-3, the win came at a cost though with captain Iain Corbett having to be carried off with what looks to be a serious injury.
Liam Kelly is the man who’s come in to fill the Jimmy Lee shaped void in the hotseat for Newcastle West, he spoke to John Keogh after the win..
While Galtee Gaels ran out 3-10 to 1-10 winners over Ballysteen in Group 2.
Elsewhere in Group 1 today St Kierans are looking to join Mungret at the top of the table against a Monaleen side who lost out to Adare in their opener.
That one throws in in Adare at 3.
