Met Eireann forecast as ‘Iberia Jet’ weather ‘pumping heat’ spiking temperatures

Met Eireann have issued a summer forecast update as ‘trundle’ weather is set to hit the country before a potential change that could see the summer ‘salvaged’ after low temperatures and gloom so far

Many weather experts are forecasting another bout of rainfall over the next week, however hopes are high for a change in the outlook further into July.

Met Eireann are already predicting heavy rain likely to cause spot flooding in Dublin, Louth, Meath and Wicklow overnight.

Meteorologist Matty Wolves stated that heat from Spain could arrive in Ireland alongside the rain.

“Again with slackish pressure patterns this evening. GEM looks very respectable to end the run with an extension of the major high out West. UKMO attempts better pressure builds and I would say all eyes on that cut off low! Could pump heat up as its gets hot over Iberia.”

His fellow weather expert Nick Finnis also predicted rain, stating: “Following a dry June and beginning to July for many, 12z ECM shows the rain piling up over England & Ireland over the next 7 days, thanks to a southerly tracking jet for time of year.”

“Hopefully the jet stream blows itself out or shifts north for the school hols!”

Met Eireann have issued the following short term forecast.

A mainly dry start today with some sunny spells. However, scattered showers will move in from the west by afternoon. Some of the showers will be heavy. By evening time some showers merging to longer spells of rain with the chance of embedded thunderstorms and spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees with a light southwest or variable breeze.

Tonight

Further heavy scattered showers overnight, with heavy rain for a time in parts of the north and east which may lead to spot flooding. Lowest temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees with a light to moderate northwesterly wind.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow will bring sunny spells, although there will be some showers in the north and west and these will extend to other areas through the afternoon and evening, turning heavy in parts. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees with a moderate west to northwest wind.
