Chelsea and Spurs ‘in bidding war’ as same signing identified after talks

Chelsea and Tottenham are reportedly embroiled in a transfer battle to secure the signing of Rennes wonderkid Desire Doue.

The 19-year-old is a wanted man this summer after having another remarkable season for the French outfit. football.london reported last month that Doue is one of the players Spurs have in their shortlist ahead of the new season.

Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also heavily linked with a move for the youngster. Doue could be the next academy product to seal a big-money transfer elsewhere, following the success of Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid.

According to the Sun, Chelsea, Spurs and United are ’embroiled in a major bidding war’ to land the versatile midfielder. Doue is said to be a ‘priority’ for the Blues and Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Both clubs are believed to have already ‘held talks’ with the player’s camp as well as Rennes but negotiations are still ‘ongoing.’ There is mention that the London rivals want to seal a deal for the midfielder by ‘next week.’

Meanwhile, United are thought to continue monitoring Doue’s situation. With the youngster set to represent France in this year’s Olympic Games in Paris, interested clubs may want to press ahead with a move sooner rather than later.
