Met Éireann issues rain warning for Waterford, Tipperary and 16 other counties
A status yellow weather warning has been issued for 18 counties with “persistent” rain set to sweep across the island on Tuesday.
The warning kicks in at 4am on Tuesday and will last for 24 hours. It will affect all of Leinster as well as Cavan, Monaghan, Leitrim, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford.
Met Éireann says the warning will lead to rain “becoming persistent and heavy at times”.
“Potential impacts include localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility.”
Wet weather is expected over the next few days with low pressure set to dominate, bringing further rain and showers. Met Éireann said it will become drier and more settled later in the week.
Monday evening will see outbreaks of rain and drizzle in Munster and south Leinster, gradually extending over much of Leinster through the night, and east Ulster by morning.
That will then extend into the warning period, with the national forecaster predicting “outbreaks of rain and drizzle, most persistent in the southeast, east and northeast through the day with the possibility of spot flooding.”
However, temperatures on Tuesday will reach a high of 20C in parts.
