Arsenal in Manchester United transfer battle as £30m claim emerges

Arsenal are reportedly set to lock horns with Manchester United in the race to sign Ajax’s star striker Brian Brobbey.

Despite a challenging season for the Eredivisie outfit last term, Brobbey emerged as one of the shining lights for the team. He netted 22 goals and set up 12 more in 43 appearances across all competitions.

United meanwhile, have been strongly linked with a move for Brobbey, with Erik ten Hag keen on a reunion with his former player at Old Trafford. However, the Sun suggests that Arsenal and several Italian clubs are also in the hunt for the 22-year-old, who is believed to be valued at £30million.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners are on the lookout for a new forward as an alternative to injury-prone Gabriel Jesus. The Dutchman could be a more affordable option compared to Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres.

The report further suggests that Brobbey is keen on a move to the Premier League. In a previous interview with NOS Jeugdjournaal, he said: “Arsenal, I think that is a very nice club. If you look at that stadium.”

“A very nice club. But that also applies to Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid. I have a contract until 2027. At the moment I am just with Ajax.”
