RTE star Maura Derrane shares rare photo with son enjoying ‘island life’ holiday
RTE star Maura Derrane has shared a rare family photo this week as she enjoys ‘island life’ with her young son while on her annual holiday.
The Today star was out in home turf this week with her son Cal as she continued her annual break from presenting duties on the hit RTE show.
The Inishmore native is currently on hiatus from the Today show which she co-hosts with Daithi O’Se.

On Friday the star enjoyed her time off alongside her ten-year-old son as the pair headed out on a walk along the docks.
Sharing a video on social media, the star gave followers a tour around her home away from the buzz of regular hosting duties.
She captioned the video: “Our walk today.”
Meanwhile last week, a recent video shared by Maura showed her laughing along with her son Cal as she tried and failed to squeeze through the bars on a gate.
The glamorous Galway woman did her best to make it through to no avail, explaining on Instagram that she was with her family walking in the area where she had grown up.
“Showing Cal around some of the fields where I used to hang out with my sisters when I was a child on Inis Mór. Obviously it’s not today or yesterday,” Maura wrote.
“I used to slither through these gates like a snake God help me, I had convinced myself I could still do it, and also wanted to prove to Cal that it was possible. How wrong I was!”
Maura made it halfway through the gate, with Cal laughing away as he held the camera. “Absolutely brilliant. Fair play. He got some laugh out of that,” one of Maura’s followers wrote in the comments.
“I think he was having a great laugh at your expense Maura,” another said, while one follower complimented Maura’s figure by saying that she “almost made it”.
