Thiago handed ‘immediate return’ to football as Liverpool cult hero banished

Liverpool fans came together over the past 24 hours to celebrate the footballing career of Thiago Alcantara after he announced his retirement.

The midfielder had a difficult season last year, suffering from injuries throughout, which prevented him from making any sort of impact in Jurgen Klopp’s farewell campaign. He was released on the expiration of his contract in June, and over the weekend, reports suggested he was to retire.

On Monday, the man himself confirmed the news on social media but hinted that he wanted to ‘give back’ to football. In our latest look at the media headlines, it appears he has been offered this opportunity almost immediately.
