Empire’s list of the 100 best TV shows of all time ignores huge chunks of television history

Only a third of the shows were made before the year 2000

There’s only one reason “Best of” lists exist and that’s to annoy people. In that respect, Empire magazine’s recently published list of the 100 best TV shows of all time, as chosen by its readers (uh-oh!), fulfils its purpose spectacularly.

It’s undoubtedly the most irksome list I’ve ever come across. These things are always going to be subjective, of course. One man’s meat and all that. But there’s a big difference between subjectivity and stupidity. This is a list mired in stupidity and ignorance.
