Buddy Oliver reveals top recipes from Let’s Cook recipe book

The first recipes in Buddy Oliver’s cookbook have been revealed – including some mouthwatering treats for young cooks to try at home.

The 13-year-old son of Essex-based chef Jamie Oliver, who was first introduced to the kitchen alongside his father in the Cooking Buddies YouTube series, has experimented with dishes including fish finger sandwiches and rocky road.

The book, called Let’s Cook, aims to encourage children into the kitchen to hone their skills with simple but tasty recipes that they will find easy.

Chapters in the book, which will sell for £20, include ‘I

According to the book’s synopsis, the book is ‘aimed at young people and beginner cooks, to get stuck into easy, delicious, and fun recipes that will help readers gain confidence and independence in the kitchen’.

It adds: ‘Buddy Oliver gained a foodie following from his popular YouTube channel Cooking Buddies, amassing over seven million views in recent years where he showcases simple, tasty and nutritious recipes for young people and cooking novices to give cooking a go at home.

‘Let’s Cook follows a similar theme with chapters titled I

Speaking about the news, Buddy said he is ‘really excited’ about the release of his cookbook.

He added that the tome is ‘full of the things [he loves] to cook and eat’ and that he had ‘so much fun planning what to include, cooking up the recipes and making sure they’re nice and easy to follow’.

According to the teenager: ‘None of them are fancy or hard to do – you’ll find things like easy breakfasts, meatballs, pizza and some sweet treats – I just hope people enjoy giving them a go.’

His father Jamie Oliver also commented on the news, saying he is ‘super proud’ of his son and the effort he put into the book.

Jamie added that Buddy has ‘always enjoyed’ sharing easy, tasty recipes, ‘which is why his Cooking Buddies YouTube channel has been a success’.

Managing director Louise Moore, who bought world rights for the book directly from Jamie Oliver Limited, described it as ‘no surprise’ that Buddy ‘has been inspired by life in a food-loving family’.

‘We know parents are always looking for ways to get their children excited about mealtimes, and his fun, simple, reliable recipes in Let’s Cook are an ideal way for kids to get started on their own cooking and eating adventures,’ she added.

Last year, multi-millionaire chef Jamie discussed his son’s cooking talents with MailOnline and insisted his son wasn’t a typical ‘nepo baby’ and instead had developed his cooking skills through hard work and practise.

He said: ‘When he was 10, and you can find this online, he filleted a mackerel.

‘It’s not because he’s a special kid, it’s because kids are brilliant and when they repeat things a few times, they get good at it – whether it’s cricket, boxing or gymnastics.’

He continued: ‘He happened to have a mackerel in his hand, which is a cheap fish that’s bloody good for you, and he cooked it for his brother River, crispy skins 90 per cent of the way, and you can’t produce that content.

‘When I take him down the market on a Saturday, he’s had 70-year-old men saying, ‘I’ve never really been into your old man, but I saw you do that video and came here and brought mackerel.

‘He has that effect on people, particularly the older generation. I’m really proud of him, he’s a good kid.’

Jamie and his wife Jools, 48, share five children Poppy, 21, Daisy, 20, Petal, 14 and River, six, as well as Buddy.
