Romito takes over Cocoa Beach boys basketball

Cocoa Beach has named Justin Romito to lead its boys high school basketball program.

Romito previously coached at Melbourne High as freshman coach and varsity assistant. He was mentored by Rob Apsey, Michael Soliven and Mike Gaudy while with the program since 2022.

“His previous track record and experience of working with two legendary Brevard County basketball coaches in Mike Soliven and Mike Gaudy made this an easy decision,” athletic director Ted Kimmey said.

Romito graduated from Holy Name High School of Cleveland, Ohio, in 2014 before going to UCF.

Romito was introduced to the team Wednesday morning.

“I’m excited to bring stability into the program, and I’ll be here for the long term as a coach and teacher,” he said. “This is what I’ve been working so hard toward, and I want to make the most out of this opportunity, not only for myself but for Cocoa Beach.”
