Tragedy in search for missing man as body recovered in Kerry town

The search for a missing man has been stood down following the recovery of a body in a Kerry town.

Peter Hill, 49, was reported missing from Tralee six days ago after being last seen in the town on Tuesday, 2 July at approximately 4pm.




This afternoon, Gardaí have confirmed that the body of a male has been discovered in the town and the search for Peter Hill has subsequently been stood down.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Following the discovery of a body of a male in Tralee, the missing persons appeal for Peter Hill (49) has been stood down. No further action is required.”

Gardai today launched a public missing persons appeal to trace the whereabouts of a teenage girl missing from her home in Limerick city.

Eighteen-year-old Elyse O’Callaghan has been reported missing from Limerick city since Tuesday 9 July. She was last seen in the area at approximately 8pm and Gardaí and her family are growing concerned for her wellbeing.

Anyone with information on Elyse’s whereabouts is asked to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061 212 400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
