SARAH CORT

MANCHESTER-ESSEX

A Cape Ann League All-Star as a freshman, Cort was 22-0 in helping Manchester-Essex go 19-4 and reach the Div. 4 state semifinals. The honors student also plays field hockey for the Hornets

ANGIE EAMRANOND

LEXINGTON

The junior first doubles’ specialist was part of an undefeated Lexington team that advanced to the Div. 1 state semifinals. A Middlesex League All-Star and honor roll student, Eamranond was recently accepted to the National Honor Society.

OLIVIA GILBERT

MARSHFIELD

The Patriot League MVP went 19-0 at first singles as a freshman and advanced to the Round of 16 at the USTA Massachusetts High School Individual Tournament. Gilbert is a three-star recruit and competes regularly at high level USTA tournaments. An honor roll student, Gilbert trains at the Weymouth Club’s High Performance Tournament Training Program.

BELLA GOPEN

WELLESLEY

The finalist at the inaugural USTA Massachusetts High School Individual Tournament helped Wellesley go 23-1 and win the Div. 1 state team title. Gopen was a singles finalist and a doubles champion at the USTA New England Winter Sectionals U16 the past two seasons. The honor roll student will spend the summer traveling the US playing in USTA Level 1 tournaments.

EMMA JANI

HAMILTON-WENHAM

The Cape Ann League Player of the Year went 17-0 on the season and helped Hamilton-Wenham capture the Div. 4 state championship. A member of the National Honor Society, Jani trains in the offseason at Montoya Tennis. She wants to become an orthodontist.

PHOEBE JIANG

LEXINGTON

Part of a dominant singles roster, the junior went undefeated in her first season at Lexington. In California, Jiang was the USTA Northern California Girls 16U Doubles Winner and was previously ranked in the top 150 in the country in the 16U age group. The high honor roll student competes in varsity indoor track.

NICOLE MAKAREWICZ

PEMBROKE

A two-time Boston Herald All-Scholastic, the sophomore was named the Patriot League Fisher MVP after going undefeated and helping to lead her team to the Div. 3 state title. She has won several L6 tournaments and appeared in the finals of a few L5 tournaments. The honors student trains at the Weymouth Club.

KYRA MCCANDLESS

LEXINGTON

The MVP of the Middlesex League was undefeated and captured the USTA Massachusetts High School State Individual title. An excellent student, then junior carries a 4.0+ GPA in the classroom. As a sophomore, McCandless didn’t lose a match in leading her team to the Div. 1 state team title.

MIA MCCANDLESS

LEXINGTON

The freshman was undefeated in completed matches at second singles for a 23-1 Lexington team that reached the Div. 1 state semifinals before losing to eventual champion Wellesley. An honors student, McCandless has a 4.0+ GPA.

MAYA MUHUNTHAN

ACTON-BOXBORO

The Dual County League Player of the Year for the second straight year, Muhunthan was undefeated during the regular season for an Acton-Boxboro squad which went 12-3 and reached the Div. 1 state quarterfinals. An honor roll student, Muhunthan was a semifinalist at the USTA Massachusetts High School State Individuals.

GISELE NGO

BOSTON LATIN

Just an eighth grader, Ngo stepped right into a loaded Boston Latin lineup at first doubles and produced a stellar 19-0 season for a team that advanced to the Div. 1 state finals. A multi-sport athlete, Ngo qualified for and swam for USA Swimming Age Groups Championships.

HALINA NGUYEN

BOSTON LATIN

The sophomore has been on the team since the seventh grade and completed her third season at first singles for the Wolfpack. An honor roll student, Nguyen advanced to the Round of 16 at the USTA Massachusetts High School State Individuals.

LILLIAN NGUYEN

BOSTON LATIN

The freshman was undefeated at first doubles for the Wolfpack, winning all 19 of her matches. A Dual County League All-Star, Nguyen is a high honors student at Boston Latin. In her spare time, Nguyen enjoys traveling and reading.

KIKI REDDY

LEXINGTON

The junior competed at first doubles for Lexington and turned in a credible 22-3 season, giving her a career mark of 64-6. A Middlesex League All-Star and honor roll student, Reddy lists her interests as painting and baking. In the offseason, Reddy will compete in several USTA tournaments.

OLIVIA ROME

WESTON

The senior earned all-Dual County League honors after going 13-5 on the season against some of the premier singles players in the state. A member of the National Honor Society and captain of the soccer team that made it to the Elite 8 of the Div. 3 state tournament, Rome will attend the University of Michigan.

GRACE SCARBROUGH

MANCHESTER-ESSEX

The sophomore went undefeated during the season and captured the Cape Ann League tournament doubles title. An honor roll student, her play helped guide the Hornets to an 18-4 season and berth in the Div. 4 state semifinals. As a freshman, Scarbrough competed in second doubles for a Manchester-Essex squad that advanced to the state finals.

KIMMY TAI

WELLESLEY

The freshman went 20-2 at second singles as Wellesley went on to win the Div. 1 state team title. Tai reached the Round of 16 at the USTA Massachusetts High School Individual Tournament. Tai is ranked second in doubles and fourth in singles in the latest USTA New England 14U rankings. A high honors student, Tai trains at the New England Tennis Academy at Longfellow.

VANESSA VU

BOSTON LATIN

The sophomore went 15-5 at second singles for a Boston Latin team that made the Div. 1 state final. Vu reached the Round of 16 at the USTA Massachusetts High School Individual Tournament. Vu has also won titles at the L5 14U Singles and L5 16U Doubles level. She trains at the Sportsmen’s Tennis and Enrichment Center.

SHANNON WELBURN

WELLESLEY

The sophomore went 18-2 at first doubles this season in helping Wellesley capture the Div. 1 state team title. The two-year starter has a career mark of 36-3. The Bay State Conference All-Conference player is an honor roll student. She was also a BSC All-Star in soccer.

SHEA WELBURN

WELLESLEY

The honor roll student posted an 18-2 record for the eventual Div. 1 state champions. The basketball and soccer star was a BSC All-Star and team MVP this past season in basketball. In the offseason, Welburn plays basketball for the Bay State Jaguars.

GRACE ZHANG

NATICK

The sophomore earned MVP honors in the Bay State Carey for the second straight year after posting an impressive 15-1 record, giving her a career mark of 31-1. Zhang turned in a solid performance at the USTA Massachusetts High School State Individuals as she reached the semifinals. Zhang carries a 4.8 GPA and is currently ranked 14th in New England among USTA Girls 16 and Under.
