Weapons cache found near proposed north Dublin asylum centre
Gardai have uncovered a stash of weapons, including a hatchet and knife, just a stone’s throw away from a site designated for asylum seekers.
Dublin Live has learned that the arsenal was concealed in ditches near the entrance to the Thornton Hall site in North Dublin. This discovery comes less than a fortnight after three pigs were found with their throats slit at the same location, seemingly an attempt to discourage Muslim asylum seekers from settling there.
Plans are underway to accommodate up to 1,000 international protection applicants at the expansive site, which was once slated to be the location of a super prison. Protests against this plan have been ongoing, and the Department of Integration has conceded that these demonstrations have hindered plans to move the applicants into tents on the 150-acre site.

The relocation was initially scheduled to take place last month, but it has now been postponed. Sources indicate that while most of the protesters are law-abiding citizens, there is a small faction associated with thuggery.
It’s understood that Gardai from north Dublin conducted an intelligence-led operation on Monday afternoon, leading to the discovery of the weapons cache in ditches and bushes. The haul, which was still under investigation last night, reportedly included a knife, a con saw, a hatchet, and iron bars.
Gardai confirmed last night that a search operation took place in North Dublin, believed to be around the entrance to Thornton Hall. A spokesperson revealed: “A number of items were recovered during the course of this search including an axe, metal poles, a knife and other implements. Enquiries are ongoing.”
There have been no arrests made. On Wednesday, June 26, three pigs met a gruesome fate at the same location, having their throats slit.
Such vile incidents have been noted both in the UK and across Europe, often as a means to deter people of the Islamic faith from entering an area due to the belief that pigs are unclean. An insider shared with Dublin Live at the time that it’s almost certain that this was the motive behind the cruel act.
The source stated: “These animals were butchered….well half-butchered…they had to be put down later. They were left cut up and bleeding out but alive.”
