Marital joy for Roscommon woman as she weds pop icon – News – Roscommon Herald
Eighties pop icon Paul Young today married his Roscommon fiancée Lorna, who hails from Tarmonbarry.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in London, celebrated by family and friends.
In a message on X (formerly Twitter) this evening, the English singer said: “Meet the new Mrs Young! Today I married the most wonderful girl..thank you Lorna, this is one of the happiest days of my life.”
In an Instagram message, Lorna said it was “the happiest day ever!”
“Today I married the most amazing man in the world. I love you Paul and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you,” she said.
Lorna’s family, the Kellys, hail from Tarmonbarry. She has three other sisters and her mother Mary still resides in the home place.
Mary’s husband Mickey Kelly sadly passed away in December 2022.
Paul Young was a massive pop star in the eighties, gaining worldwide fame for a string of hits such as “Love of the Common People”, “Wherever I Lay My Hat” and “Every Time You Go Away”.
The pair announced their engagement in October 2023.
