George Russell shares skincare and travel must-have and it’s not what you think
Formula One driver George Russell is not only a professional in cruising a racecar at 220mph but he’s also an avid traveller who spends around 200 nights a year abroad.
The 26-year-old Mercedes driver exclusively spoke to MyLondon and shared his one travel advice to fellow frequent flyers and spilled secrets on his travel skincare routine – and we have found some great deals for you on some of his top tips.
George said: “The one thing I do take everywhere, which kind of neither of those things, is my pillow. Yeah I take my pillow, not a travel pillow – my full-size pillow because to me, we must stay in a hotel almost 200 nights a year and for me, consistency is just so important. We all like our own pillow, sometimes you get to a hotel, it’s a bigger pillow or a smaller pillow, soft or hard.

“So after a few years of travelling and struggling with my pillows, I will just take my own pillow and I take it everywhere because it compresses a lot in the bag, it doesn’t actually take as much space as you think. And that’d be my one advice for a frequent traveller.”
While he didn’t specify on the brand, premium memory foam sleep company Tempur currently offers discount on some of their bestselling pillows including the Comfort Pillow Original, which has been reduced from £109 to £94 both online and on Amazon.
It is designed to cradle your head and neck as it gently conforms to your shape and it’s great for all sleeping positions whether you are a back sleeper, hugger or side sleeper.
You can also find some bargain pillows from John Lewis’ summer sale, their Luxury European Goose Down Combi Standard Pillow is on 20% off for £96 and it’s Nomite-marked, meaning it’s suitable for people with dust mite allergies.
On hot weather days, Silentnight’s Wellbeing Cool Touch Medium Pillow might ease you to sleep if your hotel is weak on air conditioning. It’s usually £39 but has been reduced to £25 on Amazon ahead of Prime Day.
As for skincare, George relies on one thing to keep his face hydrated while cruising at an altitude of 30,000 feet plus, explaining: “I do have a misty spray that I’d use probably every two hours while flying because everything gets so dry on a flight. Sometimes eye drops as well.”
However, it’s important to know that spraying water on your face won’t rehydrate your skin, it might actually dry it as it removes a layer of protective oil on your face. So it’s best to look for facial mist with moisturising properties like ceramides or essential oils.
For a refreshing pick-me-up on a flight, you can try the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. The 100% natural facial mist contains essential oils from rose, rosemary and lemon, as well as plant extracts that clarify and brighten the complexion. You can get it from Escentual for £16.20.
Meanwhile, Japanese skincare Curel’s Deep Moisture Spray bottled the skin barrier-boosting ceramides technology into a spray and it relieves dry and itchy skin with this lightweight yet nourishing formula. Shoppers love the fast-absorbing texture and some even used it to soothe the itchy skin on her legs and said it “worked a miracle”.
And unlike other mist bottles designed, the Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Mist bottle gives a smooth, ultra-fine mist that you won’t even have water drooping all over your face. It also has a delicate fragrance of neroli and rose for a refreshing pick-me-up.
