Edel Coffey, who grew up in the south Dublin suburb of Ballybrack, is an author, journalist and broadcaster. After clinching a six-figure book deal with Sphere, Coffey’s debut novel Breaking Point was published in 2022. It became a bestseller and won the An Post Irish Book Award for Crime Fiction Book Of The Year. Her second book, In Her Place, was published by Sphere in March. The Dubliner lives in Galway with her husband and children.

My mother was my first financial adviser. She told me to always have my own money, and encouraged me to “save half, spend half”, which has stood me in good stead.
