Leeds United keen on Jayden Bogle with one Sheffield United complication

Right-backs are thin on the ground at Thorp Arch at the moment, but Leeds United are working to solve that issue with Jayden Bogle as a target. The Sheffield United defender is in the last year of his contract at Bramall Lane and someone the Whites would like to add to their ranks.

As first reported by The Telegraph, Bogle appeals to Daniel Farke and the Elland Road hierarchy after seeing their stock of right-backs dwindle to one senior option. Sam Byram is also needed at left-back in the current depth chart at United too, underlining the need for bodies in full-back roles.

Bogle appeals as a 23-year-old with room to improve after six seasons in England’s top two divisions, alongside a precarious contract situation in South Yorkshire. It is unclear if a bid has yet been sent to the Blades, but Bogle was involved in their friendly at York City on Saturday afternoon.

Chris Wilder has been able to add free agents Jamie Shackleton and Sam McCallum to his Sheffield ranks, but reports from the Steel City suggest further incomings are on hold while takeover talks are ongoing.

With Bogle’s contract expiring next June, he will walk away for free next summer unless he is sold or agrees to fresh terms. Leeds will hope that threat makes the Blades more willing to secure a seven-figure fee by negotiating with them, but the prospect of directly strengthening what could be a promotion rival is not lost on anyone.
