Amazon Is Discounting Pokémon Mega Sets Before Prime Day – IGN

We are big fans of both LEGO sets and Pokémon toys here at IGN, and these Mega building sets are the closest thing there is to the perfect combination of the two. Although Pokémon hasn’t officially licensed with the LEGO brand, they do offer a nice variety of sets with the next best LEGO alternative: Mega.

Not all of the options that are available on Amazon are currently on sale, but there’s a nice mix of popular buildling sets with discounts that we’ve managed to find ahead of Prime Day 2024. Perhaps the easiest entry point into these sets is the Mega Charizard set, which is priced down to just $14.99. We’ve gathered all of the current deals on Pokémon building sets worth shopping now and will keep on eye an prices ahead of Amazon’s big event.

Although there are currently more of these sets on sale at Amazon, these three options were the most reasonably priced. Although none of them are at their all time-low price points, they are discounted enough to make a purchase worth it.

Are LEGO bricks compatible with Mega Bloks?

The short answer to this question is that regular MEGA Bloks will generally work with other LEGO sets. So in the case of these Pokémon sets, you should have no problem placing the characters on top of another LEGO creation. That being said, there are some inconsistencies with compatibility between the two brands and some types of pieces may not fit together well.

Should You Buy Now or Wait for Prime Day?

Considering Amazon Prime Day is only a couple of days away, it’s certainly reasonable to wait to make your purchase then. Since none of the Pokémon sets we’ve found on sale right now are at their lowest ever prices, there’s a chance they could get discounted even more when Amazon officially kicks off it’s sale.

That being said, the particularly low price of these items makes any further discounting fairly minimal. The Charizard set featured above has actually fairly recently dropped down to just $9.99 on Amazon and could very well do so again. All-in-all our advice would be to make the purchase now if you don’t want to wait, but lower prices will likely arrive on Prime Day or Black Friday when more expensive LEGO sets go on sale.
