Three men charged with ‘cash trapping’ ATMs in Dublin
Three men have been charged in connection with an investigation into fraudulent activity involving the use of cash trapping devices at ATMs in Dublin.
Solicitors for the three men told Judge Anne Watkin at Dún Laoghaire District Court that there would be no application for bail and their cases are to be heard before Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.
Calin Scintei with an address at The Park, CityWest Village in Dublin is charged with stealing cash, the property of AIB in Dún Laoghaire and in Stillorgan and with having a “cash trapping” device in his possession with the intention that it would be used in connection with theft contrary to the Criminal Justice Act 2001.
He is also charged with damaging ATM machines in Stillorgan and Dún Laoghaire.
Manoli Codrin, 25, of no fixed abode is charged with having a cash-trapping device in his possession in Dún Laoghaire and in Stillorgan.
Mariaus Crisan, 27, of Ormond Way in Swords is charged with stealing an unknown amount of cash at the AIB in Stillorgan and Dún Laoghaire and with damage to the ATM machines at those locations.
He is also charged with damage to AIB ATM machines in Clonskeagh and on Sandymount Road and with the possession of a cash-trapping device in Stillorgan and Dún Laoghaire.
A solicitor for Calin Scintei said his client would have no need for an interpreter and he was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Wednesday.
