‘Secrets out’ as Gordon Ramsay picks Galway food business for new Disney show
A small Galway oyster farm has finally let the cat out of the bag and revealed that they got to host world famous chef Gordon Ramsay as he took in the best Ireland has to offer on a “culinary adventure”.
The Kitchen Nightmares icon has been filming in the West of Ireland for a new show on the National Geographic channel and stopped in to Kelly’s Oysters in Kilcolgan.
The farm’s owners wrote on social media today that the first episode will be up tonight and they can finally let the secret out.

“We are thrilled to announce that we had the incredible honour of welcoming none other than Gordon Ramsay to our oyster farm as part of his culinary adventure on the West Coast of Ireland!” the jubilant post read.
“This experience was truly unforgettable, offering us the chance to showcase our oysters alongside other amazing Irish produce.”
Situated in a small inlet of Galway Bay, the Kelly Oyster farm is gently tucked in-between the ancient Burren and the hills of Connemara.
The team there farm up to a million oysters every year – all hand-harvested, packed in traditional baskets with seaweed, and shipped to their customers locally, in Europe, and as far-afield as Canada, Singapore and Dubai.
“Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted,” will be premiering in America on National Geographic tonight. It’s going to be an episode that celebrates the beauty and flavour of Ireland’s West Coast. Gordon himself has said “It’s going to be shucking incredible…”
The story of Kelly’s Oysters spans three generations and counting, back to over 60 years ago when Michael Kelly made the decision to stay in Ireland despite many of his siblings emigrating.
His father and grandfather before him had fished for oysters so Michael set out to follow in their footsteps.
“Both myself and my brother Michéal joined the business in time, along with our own wives, and we have recently welcomed Michéal’s son, Michael Jnr, on board,” Diarmuid Kelly said.
