Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians one of three League of Ireland fixtures postponed due to international call-ups

That Tallaght Stadium clash will now be rescheduled, along with two games this Monday between Bohemians and leaders Shelbourne at Dalymount, and Galway United and Shamrock Rovers at Eamonn Deacy Park, with the FAI confirming the news this evening.

With Bohs’ clash against Shels due to be televised on Virgin, the broadcaster will now televise St Patrick’s Athletic v Dundalk instead, as Lilywhites boss Jon Daly returns to Richmond Park having been sacked as Saints manager earlier this month.

Shamrock Rovers midfielder Markus Poom has received his latest call-up for Estonia, and is set to add to his 23 caps against Switzerland and the Faroe Islands next month.

Bohemians are also set to be without Martin Miller and Michael Lilander for the international role, with the pair also called up for Estonia’s upcoming camp. Bohs striker Sten Reinkort has also been capped five times for the country, but missed out on a call-up this week.

Some League of Ireland clubs could yet lose more players to international duty with the Ireland U-21s squad set to be announced next Monday. The likes of Shamrock Rovers’ Johnny Kenny (on loan from Celtic), Drogheda United’s Andrew Wogan and St Patrick’s Athletic’s Kian Leavy have all received recent call-ups for Jim Crawford’s side, who face Croatia’s U-21s and England’s U-20s in a pair of friendlies next month.

A statement this evening read: “The League of Ireland can confirm that the following fixtures have been postponed due to requests from affected Clubs following international call-ups in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division Bohemians v Shelbourne, Dalymount Park, Monday, 3 June, 17:15; Galway United v Shamrock Rovers, Eamonn Deacy Park, Monday, 3 June, 17:00; Shamrock Rovers v Bohemians, Tallaght Stadium, Friday, 7 June, 20:00.

“We will communicate a new date for each of the postponed fixtures when confirmed with all Clubs.”

Monday’s meeting between Derry City and Waterford at the Ryan McBride Brandywell will also now kick off at 6pm, following a request from the Candystripes.
