‘Don’t get caught’ – Hidden €55 Ryanair charge you can avoid at Dublin Airport

DUBLIN Airport is set to have one of its busiest weekends as the June Bank Holiday rolls in.

But passengers are being warned of one major Ryanair charge that can be easily avoided.

It is being advised that anyone who is travelling with Ryanair over the Bank Holiday weekend should check in online ahead of their flight.

While the airline allows passengers to check in at the airport, there is a hidden fee to do this.

Leaving your check in until you get to the airport can result in you being charged €55 extra.

Taking to TikTok, user @jetsetting_jacki showed her followers a breakdown of the airline’s hidden costs and fees, giving advice to anyone travelling this summer.

She said: “The amount you get charged by Ryanair for not checking in online is actually f***ed.

“I really don’t want any of us to get charged this summer. If you don’t check in online for your Ryanair flight, it will cost you £55.

“This message is very clear for anyone flying Ryanair, do not check in at the airport, make sure you check in online because this is such a waste of money to pay.

“Just don’t get caught out, and make sure your bag weighs under 20kg or you get charged heaps of money as well.”

Ryanair charges customers for various different things when booking, which they claim leaves the cost of the flight itself so low.

Booking a seat on board can cost anywhere between €4.50 to €33 depending on where you want to sit.

To re-issue your boarding pass, it will set you back €20, the same amount if you are checking in any infant equipment – which is per item, per flight.

The infant fee itself, which you are charged with if you when travelling with a child under two, is €25 per flight.

Luggage costs

Ryanair passengers can only take a small personal bag into the cabin free of charge, measuring a maximum of 23cm x 20cm x 40cm.

To be able to take a suitcase into the cabin, passengers need to purchase priority boarding.

Costing from €6 to €36 at the time of booking and €20 to €38 post booking, this allows a small personal bag alongside a 55cm x 40cm x 20cm suitcase into the cabin.

The bag must weigh under 10kg to be allowed into the cabin – and this always isn’t guaranteed, depending on how many passengers purchase priority boarding.

Ryanair offers two options for check-in bags.

The first one is a bag that weighs up to 10kg and the second a 20kg bag.

20kg checked bags cannot be larger than 80 x 120 x 120cm.

If your bag is bigger than this, it must be given to the oversize baggage desk and you will be charged extra.

Travellers are allowed to buy up to three checked 20kg bags per person.

If your baggage weighs over the limit, then Ryanair will charge you an excess €9 to €11 per extra kilo.
