Chanticleer Women’s Basketball Inks Brooks – Coastal Carolina University Athletics

CONWAY, S.C. – The Coastal Carolina women’s basketball team has inked Delaware State transfer guard Savannah Brooks for the 2024-25 season as announced by head coach Kevin Pederson.

“Savannah is an athletic and tough-minded guard that can score at all three levels,” Pederson stated. “We believe she is a natural fit for our offensive style of play and will have a chance to come in here and make an immediate impact after leading Delaware State in total points scored over her first two seasons in college.”

The 5-9 guard made 48 career starts in two seasons for the Delaware State Hornets, averaging 10.4 points per game while grabbing 3.7 rebounds per game and notching 1.9 assists per contest in 51 games played. Brooks recorded 27 games with double-digit scoring while shooting 34.4 percent from the field and scoring 528 points.

Last season, Brooks was third on the team in scoring with 10.3 points per game for 270 points, including a career-high 25 points versus New Jersey City, while shooting 10-of-13 from the field and going 5-of-6 from behind the three-point arc. Defensively, the Taneytown, Md., native was third with 31 steals while grabbing 67 defensive rebounds. Brooks buried a team-high 38 three-pointers and led the Hornets with 61 assists.

As a freshman, Brooks led the team in scoring with 10.3 points per game and 10 blocks on the season. She scored a then career-high 20 points in 38 minutes of action in a win over Maryland Eastern Shore in March. The 5-9 guard was 6-of-16 from the field including 5-of-12 from three-point range, while grabbing eight rebounds, blocking two shots, and three steals. The freshman led DSU with 30 steals and was the team leader with 30 made three-pointers and 53 made free throws.
