More than 57,000 passengers expected at Cork Airport this weekend
MORE than 57,000 passengers are expected at Cork Airport this June bank holiday weekend, just as Ryanair begins two new summer routes and recommences two seasonal services.
With the summer holidays kicking off for post-primary schools, tens of thousands of passengers will take off for Europe and beyond, while thousands of visitors from the UK, continental Europe and further afield will arrive in Cork over the coming days.
Low fares airline Ryanair is set to begin new summer routes from Cork to Rhodes and Zadar shortly
The service to Rhodes will begin on Saturday, June 1, with twice-weekly flights to the Greek island on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The new service to Zadar in Croatia will starts on Monday, June 3, and will also operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays.
Both of the new services will operate until the end of October, and direct flights to two popular French cities will also make a return as Ryanair services to La Rochelle and Carcassonne will recommence over the coming days.
Niall MacCarthy, managing director at Cork Airport said summer had kicked off at the airport.
“We’re seeing strong loads, both inbound and outbound, across all our routes.
“When you experience the convenience of Cork Airport, we are confident you will not want to fly from any other Irish airport.
“If you’re living anywhere in Munster or South Leinster, we’re only a short hop away,” Mr MacCarthy said.
Cork Airport is expected to grow by over 7% this year and looks set to exceed three million passengers across over 50 routes.
Recent passenger satisfaction surveys, independently conducted by RedC, indicate customer satisfaction of over 95% for passengers using Cork Airport, with survey respondents complimenting fast security, short walking distances and friendly staff.
Over the coming bank holiday weekend, passengers are advised to arrive at Cork Airport 90 minutes before their flight is due to depart.
For passengers intending to travel over the summer months, it is strongly recommended to pre-book car parking online at corkairport.com, where the best value rates can be found across all three car parks.
