NBA WAG hits out at GM after he criticized her husband’s performances
- Thunder GM Sam Presti said this week he ‘missed’ on Gordon Hayward’s trade
- Hayward has struggled to perform in OKC since leaving the Hornets in February
The wife of Oklahoma City Thunder player Gordon Hayward has criticized the team’s general manager Sam Presti on social media after he admitted he ‘missed’ when trading for him.
Presti brutally – and publicly – scolded Hayward’s performances in Oklahoma since he arrived from the Charlotte Hornets for three players and two second-round picks in February.
‘I missed on that,’ Presti said this week.
‘That’s on me. But I’m learning, I’m trying to learn this team, I’m trying to learn the pace of the team a little bit.
‘And trying to be a great observer of the team as it’s going through its paces, knowing that it’s really going to change on its own in and of itself.’
But Hayward’s wife, Robyn, hit back against Presti on Instagram and rushed to her husband’s defense.
She commented: ‘Why trade for someone and not play them? … missed it by not integrating him’.
Hayward was averaging 14.5 points over around 32 minutes per game while at the Hornets.
But his output dropped to just 5.3 points over around 17.2 minutes per game with the Thunder. The stats show that Robyn may have a point.
However, Hayward failed to score during the NBA playoffs – which saw OKC lose to the Dallas Mavericks in the second round.
Gordon previously called his time with the Thunder ‘frustrating’ and ‘disappointing’.
‘I feel as a player, I have a lot to offer,’ Gordon said.
‘Just wasn’t really given much of an opportunity to do that. I thought I would be given that opportunity.’
