Porsche Golf Circle enjoys dreamlike days revolving around the European Open
Special encounters, lingering memories: 12 Porsche Golf Circle members immersed themselves in the world of top international sport as a part of the “Porsche Golf Circle x European Open” event. Centring on the Pro-Am tournament at the prestigious DP World Tour event, the Community enjoyed thrilling experiences including an exclusive guided tour of the Elbphilharmonie which also took in a visit to a spectacular concert rehearsal.
The highlight during the days in Hamburg was Wednesday’s round on the course hosting the European Open, the Nord Course belonging to the Green Eagle Golf Courses complex. Three members of the Porsche Golf Circle, an international community of golf-loving Porsche customers, teamed up respectively with a top golfer for a round. Defending champion Tom McKibbin from Northern Ireland and Jesper Svensson, winner of the 2024 Porsche Singapore Classic, teed up with Community members and answered their many questions. ´
Pro-Am: “The atmosphere was incredible”
“Going round with a pro is something else,” raved member Carlos Delfs. “Tom McKibbin plays the course so nice and steadily. It’s awesome.” And Nana Pan added: “The whole atmosphere was incredible. You felt like a pro.” The world class golfers were also thrilled by the Porsche Golf Circle amateurs: “The round was great, and it was very enjoyable. The guys were good fun,” said Tom McKibbin. “It’s a little bit easier if the amateurs are good. And my guys were very good.”
Backstage in the Elbphilharmonie
Content creator Paul Ripke was also euphoric when looking back on his experiences. “So many super nice people. It was fun, fun, fun,” said the Porsche Golf Circle member. “My first event was definitely not my last.” The excursion to the Elbphilharmonie also played a big part in everything. An exceptional guided tour around Hamburg landmark’s that included rooms not normally open to the general public plus an exclusive sound experience in the main concert hall where hundreds of musicians were rehearsing both led to awestruck guests. “I’ve rarely been backstage at such a spectacular cultural event,” said an incredulous Ripke. The same applied to Marcus Feuerstein, a Circle member from Hamburg. “Even as somebody that comes from Hamburg, you basically don’t have the chance to experience anything like it. Except that is if the Porsche Golf Circle makes it possible. We were so lucky.”
On top of the special activities, the Porsche Golf Circle Community also enjoyed a golf clinic ahead of the Pro-Am with Major champion Danny Willett. On day one of the European Open, the members were guests in the VIP hospitality area and watched the action live right next to the Nord Course’s 18th hole. They also had the chance to test drive the new Taycan on the roads around the tournament venue. “The whole event is just amazing,” said the overjoyed member, Leo Jensen. “Porsche has done a fabulous job. I’m so happy to be a part of everything.
This year’s other Porsche Golf Circle events are the “Porsche Golf Circle Festival Mallorca” (14 June), “Porsche Golf Circle x The Amundi Evian Championship” in Evian-les-Bains, France (14/15 July) and the “Porsche Golf Circle x Golf Club Murhof x Track Icons” in Styria, Austria (7 – 9 October).
Porsche in golf
Porsche has been involved in golf since 1988 through the Porsche Golf Cup. The tournament series is one of the company’s most successful customer events and has developed into an international event in which, at its peak, over 17,000 Porsche customers took part in 261 worldwide qualifying tournaments. After becoming involved in professional golf for the first time in 2015 as the title sponsor of the DP World Tour’s prestigious Porsche European Open, Porsche was then instrumental in establishing the tournament as a top golf event in Germany. Now supporting the European Open near Hamburg as the Official Automotive Partner since 2024, Porsche is thus continuing the long-time successful cooperation with the time-honoured DP World Tour golf event. As the new title sponsor of the Porsche Singapore Classic, the sports car manufacturer is internationalising its commitment to professional golf in the important Asian market. Car partnerships at US PGA Tour and DP World Tour tournaments, including the European Open and the Omega European Masters in Crans Montana as well as in women’s golf – the Amundi Evian Championship – round off its involvement in professional golf. Launched in 2017, the Porsche Golf Circle is also highly successful. The international community for keen golf-playing Porsche customers gives its members the opportunity to enjoy exclusive golfing experiences at unique locations and at professional tournaments. Paul Casey has been complementing the Porsche family since 2020 as the first Brand Ambassador from the game of golf.
