Claire and Eanna had a “wild” conversation about the best ways to deal with fruit flies during the summer months and Claire revealed the bizarre place that she stores her fruit.

The mum-of-three said: “We have a drawer for the fruit and you open it and they come out and you just think ahhh.”

Eanna poked fun at Claire as she responded: “But why are you keeping your fruit in a drawer? For God’s sake, are you from Cavan?”

Claire said: “It’s just the way we do it – what are you supposed to do?”

When the 48-year-old got home, she made sure to clear her name to everyone who thought her food storage was peculiar.

The popular presenter stood in her kitchen wearing navy trousers, a cream button up jacket and white top.

She said: “Following on from the major controversy this morning, I wanted to show you my fruit drawer.

“I don’t think it’s as mad as Eanna thinks it sounds.”

Claire showed off her floor to ceiling kitchen cabinets and opened the bottom drawer.

The Laois native’s drawer was full of oranges, apples and bananas and said: “Here is the fruit drawer.

“You see, perfectly normal, perfectly reasonable.”

RTE 2FM star Carl Mullan took to Instagram yesterday evening to compare his fruit storage with Claire’s and called it “slightly less deranged”.

The radio star said: “There was uproar today on RTE Radio 1 when Claire Byrne revealed she puts her fruit in a drawer.

“Now, we also put our fruit in a drawer but… it’s a drawer in the fridge which Claire, is slightly less deranged.

“So I’m with you on the drawer but it has to be in the fridge to be honest with you.”

SWEET TRADITION

The presenter recently revealed the sweet traditions she shares with her two daughters.

The Laois native likes to keep her personal life relatively private.

Claire and her husband Gerry Scollan have three children together – one son, Patrick, born in 2013, and two daughters, Jane, born in 2014, and Emma, born in 2016.

RTE One recently posted a video of Claire answering some of her fans’ hard hitting questions.

When asked if she’s a Swiftie, which is a self-identifying term by Taylor Swift fans, the 48-year-old said: “I love Taylor Swift.
