Renowned South Kerry-based horticulturalist Billy Alexander has claimed yet another medal for his ever-expanding prize collection.

Kells Bay House and Gardens’ display has taken a gold medal at the 2024 Bloom festival in Dublin’s Phoenix Park. The South Kerry business is a perennial medallist at Ireland’s most high profile gardening festival.

“It’s not my first [Bloom win], however it’s always a relief when we find the judges concur that we are maintaining the standards that we set ourselves,” Mr Alexander said following this latest win.

Mr Alexander is also a multiple gold medallist at the world-famous Chelsea show and recently won the prestigious Lawrence Medal, a prize given to the best exhibit shown to the Royal Horticultural Society each year.

The Bloom festival opened today and continues until Bank Holiday Monday, June 3.
