We thought Coronation Street, the world’s longest-running soap opera, had seen it all, from Deirdre’s affair with Mike Baldwin to Richard Hillman’s extraordinary killing spree.

But even after 64 years, there’s still room for something new, so how about a Lios Póil jersey parading through the streets of Weatherfield?

Nora Begley was part of a 16-person contingent from Tralee’s ‘Born to Run Marathon Club’ which took part in the Great Manchester Run in recent days. But not content with completing the 10-kilometre race, Nora eyed up more history in bringing her club colours to the cobbled streets of the world-famous soap opera.

“There were 16 of us on the trip,” Nora told The Kerryman. Fourteen of us completed the 10k race and two completed the half marathon. On Saturday morning, six of us also completed the South Manchester parkrun.

“A few of the club members are big Corrie fans and they wanted to see how it was filmed. I grew up watching Coronation Street, and my mam is also a massive fan, and that’s how the idea came to me.”

Unfortunately, Nora did not get to meet any of the actors or sneak the Lios Póil jersey into the filming background – but there’s time to put that right in the future!
