Saturday Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets [June 1, 2024]

Check out our tips and best bets for Saturday’s racing around Australia, including meetings at Caulfield, Rosehill, Eagle Farm, Morphettville and Belmont.

BEST BETS

Caulfield Race 9 No.15 Mirzann

Mirzann (15) gets his chance here third-up from a gun draw. He just gave the winner too much of a start over 1800m at Flemington last start but the extra 200m is a big positive and Lane will be keen to avoid being shuffled back. Punters who did their dough on him last time at $2.90 will hopefully get it back today.

Damian Lane (55.5kg)
Chris Waller
4yoG (b) Camelot x Muniza

Rosehill Race 8 No.4 For Victory

For Victory (4) is just racing so consistently and with the draw, I’ve got him on top over stablemate Unusual Legacy (3), who beat him last start. Fitter than anything, back up to 1800m suits, as does returning to Rosehill.

Kerrin Mc Evoy (59.5kg)
Chris Waller
4yoG (b) Mehmas x Kualke

Eagle Farm Race 4 No.2 Just Folk

Won by the Caulfield and Melbourne Cup winner last year this renewal will be a hard act to follow but Just Folk (2) has done very little wrong since joining Gavin Bedggood. He beat all but Numerian at weight-for-age last start, won a Group 3 at this trip two starts back and with Nash Rawiller back on can go again.

Nash Rawiller (58.5kg)
Gavin Bedggood
7yoG (ch) Magnus x Fast Ruby

BEST VALUE

Caulfield Race 6 No.1 Ashford Street

Ashford Street (1) had his first start for Tom Dabernig last start and got the job done at double-figure odds. It’s hard to see him regressing here given his record over this distance (12:5-0-1) and the fact that the track should be to his liking (bit of the sting out). He drops to 56kg and should run well again at an each-way quote.

Jaylah Kennedy (59kg)
Tom Dabernig
6yoG (b) Moshe x Magic By Gosh

Rosehill Race 5 No.1 Love Shuck

Todd Smart has a handy one with Love Shuck (1). Thought it was a brave effort first-up at Wagga in a strong race when he set the tempo and kept kicking when the challengers came. Carried top weight that day too and now gets Aaron Bullock in the saddle.

Aaron Bullock (58kg)
Todd Smart
3yoG (b) Mikki Isle x Oyster Bell

Eagle Farm Race 2 No.15 Madame Odette

The Gollan stable has four acceptors but there is a touch of class about Madame Odette (15) which won the Toowoomba Guineas as a three-year-old and wasn’t disgraced in black-type company subsequently. She has a good first-up record, won a recent trial and draws to do no work with Tyler Schiller from the ace.

Tyler Schiller (57.5kg)
Tony Gollan
4yoM (b) Churchill x Cloudwatch
