With T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 fast approaching, Pakistan who were the finalists in the last edition of the tournament, are placed sixth in the ICC Men’s T20 team rankings.

Since the T20 World Cup in 2022 however, the team has not fared very well in this format. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have had 4 different chairmen during this period and they even experimented with a different captain in Shaheen Afridi for a single series, only to abandon those plans before the marquee tournament.
Pakistan are also one of the WC teams who will not play any warm-up matches. Instead, they opted to participate in a 3-match T20 series and 4-match T20 series, against Ireland and England, respectively.
