Maura turned to Daithi and said: “This is our last show.”
Daithi replied: “Can’t believe it. It’s very important to say we’re nothing without you at home.”
Galway native Maura replied: “Thanks so much for watching everyday. You’ve been brilliant, seriously.”
Daithi added: “That’s all. We are back in September. Have a lovely summer, hopefully the weather will be good.”
For the final sign off, Maura told the viewers to enjoy their summers. : “Enjoy the festivals. Come see Daithi on the 8th, I dunno – come see me somewhere else. Have a wonderful summer, bye!”
Maura is known for her chic style, and opted into a TikTok famous trend for her final Today look of the season – the “mobwife” aesthetic. TikTok’s algorithm is designed to bring fleeting trends with strong visual definitions to the forefront, and the mobwife look is no exception.
It takes inspiration from the female characters on The Sopranos, The Godfather films, and reality TV shows such as The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Hallmarks of the look are lots of leopard print, extra jewellery, faux fur coats and perfectly applied makeup.
It is influenced by Italian designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, and emphasizes feminine, maximalist vibes.
Maura chose a leopard print skirt to bring the look to life. Taking to Instagram, she said: “Our last day @rtetoday for this season. I can’t believe it. Thank you to all our guests, our fabulous #bts production team, but most of all, thanks to you for watching everyday.”
“We will see you in September. An elegant/ mobwife look for my last #ootd,” she said, followed by a laughing face emoji.
“You can never have too much [leopard] print”
We love her chic and pared back take on the look, and can’t wait to see more TikTok inspired trends done right as the platform continues to influence fashion both on and off the app.
Fans were quick to compliment her took, and share how much they looked forward to the show’s return in September.
One said: “Enjoy the summer, will miss the show but look forward to seeing you all back in September. Great show.”
Another added: “Oh it’s a beautiful outfit.”
Maura also shared that she will be presenting the Oliver Callan radio show from Tuesday next week.
