RTE Daithi O’Se emotional Today Show as star bids farewell to viewers

RTE star Daithi O’Se had an emotional moment on the Today Show this week as the presenter bid farewell to viewers for the summer.

The presenter and part time Galway resident and his co-star Maura Derrane had a difficult time in the most recent episode of the hit show as they prepare to take their summer break.

The show is a certified hit as it brings in hundreds of thousands of viewers every weekday at 3:30pm.

However, all good things must come to an end, as the series is due to take its annual summer break as it signed off on Friday, May 31.

In the latest episode Daithi joked around with Maura as he looked to be devastated to leave their loyal viewership over the next couple of months.

The current series has been chock-a-block, with new faces stepping in for Sinead Kennedy, who took her maternity leave starting November 2023.

Maura, who is typically on our screens from Wednesday to Friday, took over the reins for the full week up until Christmas, then reverted to her regular schedule.

The star recently attracted as she sported a fresh new look leaving viewers astonished.

The Aran Islands native showed off her stunning new hair colour on social media as she thanked her behind-the-scenes hairstylist.

The post on Instagram read: “Thanks to @morrissey.pamela @sobebrown And I discovered a new way to keep my colour looking fresher for longer the @gaiafilters water filter, invented by a 23 year old Irish cailín!”

The video showed the star fluffing up her newly silky locks as she raved about the change to her cadre of followers.

Comments came thick and fast as people clamoured to compliment the star with one writing: “Stunning on you! Maura you’re like a teenager!”

Another commented: “Love it on you! You look fantastic.. also that filter sounds great!”

A third wrote: “Really suits you…gorgeous cut!”
