Travelling to your hot destination and finding out that your luggage didn’t make it is one of the most frustrating things that could happen while on holiday.

But some top tips have been issued for Irish holidaymakers who are set to travel abroad for a sunshine holiday and want to avoid any obstacles preventing their luggage from reaching the correct destination.

A Dublin Airport employee has stated that any Irish travellers should remove any ribbons attached to their luggage as this may cause delays in getting bags onto the plane.

Talking to RSVP Live, baggage handler John said: “Ribbons that people tie onto their suitcases to help identify them can cause issues with the bag being scanned in the baggage hall.

“If the bag can’t be scanned automatically it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn’t make it to the flight.”

He also encourages people to remove old stickers from the bag as it can cause confusion with the scanning process.

Placing your suitcase wheels up for less damage and avoid packing Marzipan into your baggage as it has the same density as some explosives, are also other bits of advice to avoid your bag being removed for a search.

Meanwhile, a travel expert has revealed six “game-changer” packing hacks to avoid checking luggage into the hold.

He added: “This is a game changer, as it not only saves space but also makes it easier to see and access each item without messing up the rest of the arrangement.”

The technique has three ways to approach certain types of clothes.
