Women’s Basketball Adds Three Newcomers – Binghamton University Athletics

VESTAL, N.Y. – The Binghamton women’s basketball team has announced the signing of a pair of transfer players and one incoming freshman. The two guards and one post player will arrive on campus next month to begin preparations for the upcoming season. They represent the first three signings for the Bearcats since Mary Grimes was named the head coach this past April.

Kaia Goode (Rochester, N.Y.) is a 5-4 junior guard who played her first two seasons at LeMoyne College, where she was coached by Grimes. As a freshman, she was named to the 2023 Northeast-10 Conference All-Rookie Team after averaging 10.1 points and 2.9 assists per game. Goode was also named the conference’s Rookie of the Week on Jan. 30, 2023 and her 64 steals for the season was the highest total by a freshman in LeMoyne program history.

During her sophomore campaign, Goode finished with 7.4 points and 2.9 assists per contest. She was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week on Dec. 17, 2023.

In two seasons with the Dolphins, Goode started in 60 games and scored 521 points. She is a 2022 graduate of Bishop Kearney High School.

“I am truly excited about Kaia Goode, and the experience she will bring to Binghamton women’s basketball,” Grimes said. “Kaia is a proven winner. She has won at the high school, AAU, Division 2 and Division 1 levels. She is a true competitor who will help the team in many facets at the point guard position.”

Leah Middleton (Auburn, N.Y.) is a 5-11 sophomore guard who played her rookie season at LeMoyne College. She appeared in all 32 games this past year and made one start. Against Boston University this past Nov. 23, Middleton came off the bench to score a career-best 14 points. She also finished with eight points and five rebounds against Colgate on Dec. 8. Middleton also turned in eight points and five rebounds in the NEC title game against Sacred Heart on March 17. She is a 2022 graduate of Auburn High School.

“I am thrilled that Leah has decided to continue her college career at Binghamton,” Grimes said. “Leah finished her high school career very strong and only tapped the surface in her first year in college. Leah’s work ethic is off the charts and her desire to get better will be a great addition to the team and culture.”

Abby Misier (Hightstown, N.J.), meanwhile, is a 6-4 center from Hightstown High School. In her senior season, she averaged 23.6 points and 13.6 rebounds per game and was named to the Jersey Zone All-Area Team. Misier finished her career with 1,555 points, 1,200 rebounds and 293 blocks. Her career high of 43 points came against Woodbury on Jan. 29, 2024. In addition, she grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds against Old Bridge this past Feb. 26 and recorded a career-best seven blocks on Jan. 27, 2023.

“I am beyond thrilled about adding Abby Misier to the roster,” Grimes said. “She has a tremendous upside and gives us more depth in the post. In her final season in high school, she made great strides on the court but mostly her confidence grew significantly. Her passion for the game and internal drive fits well with the values of the program.”
