Junior College Seven-Footer Christian Richardson Joining Men’s Basketball – Long Beach State University Athletics

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Tapping into the junior college ranks for the first time under Chris Acker and his staff, Long Beach State Men’s Basketball has secured the commitment of junior Christian Richardson of Butler Community College in Kansas.

Center, 7-0, 225

Los Angeles, Calif. (Potter’s House Christian Academy)

Butler CC

An elite shot blocker from the junior college ranks, Christian Richardson has played in 47 games over the last two years at Butler CC in back-to-back 20-win seasons. Averaging nearly 1.5 blocks per game over that time, Richardson averaged 7.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season, and shot over 70% from the field, 87-of-124 on the year. He previously played high school basketball at Potter’s House Christian Academy in Florida where he emerged as a valued prospect.

Acker on Richardson:

“Christian is coming from a very competitive league at the Junior College level. That national experience has really helped him gain a tremendous amount of confidence. We are excited about what he is going to bring to our program from a rim protection standpoint, and we believe he is going to do a great job to help our program thrive.”

Richardson is the fourth upperclassman signed by Acker and his staff, joining Division I transfers Devin Askew, Austin Johnson and TJ Wainwright. The Beach has also welcomed in transfers Derrick Michael Xzavierro and Ramel Lloyd Jr. as well as incoming high school recruits in Andrew Nagy and Kam Martin in the 2024 signing class.
